Directions
- Step 1
- With the rack in the middle position, preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Step 2
- In a Dutch oven or ovenproof pot, whisk together the maple syrup, water, vinegar and mustard. Season generously with pepper. Add the remaining ingredients.
- Step 3
- Cover and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the pot from the oven and baste the ham with the cooking juices. Continue to bake, uncovered, for 20 minutes. Remove from the oven.
- Step 4
- On a work surface, slice the ham. Serve with mashed potatoes and green beans, if desired.
Tips
Toupie-style smoked ham gets a perfectly even bake in the oven. Due to its moist texture, it can be neatly sliced, making it ideal for a simple yet elegant presentation.
